Scrum 101

This course is designed to provide a trusted learning resource for those looking to improve their understanding of the Scrum Framework. It’s free because we believe that ‘good Scrum’ is worth investing in, and we want to help our customers to leverage the value that Scrum can offer (when used correctly!). It’s simply a series of videos support by a final assessment which we want you to use to validate the knowledge you gain from the training.

What is this course?

Scrum 101 is a series of 19 videos created by our primary trainer, Ryan Brook (Professional Scrum Trainer @ Scrum.org). In almost every video you will be required to interact with the content shown – this may be in the form of taking specific notes, creating a list of learning points, further reading and more. Sure, you could ignore them all, but we produced this course to help you learn, and active participation is necessary to uptake knowledge.

Learning objectives

  • Understand the Scrum Framework including the artefacts, accountabilities, events and commitments.
  • Learn how to leverage empiricism to deliver more value to your customers.
  • Consider how complexity impacts the framework used to develop products.
  • Identify common impediments in the way organisations implement Scrum.
  • Understand how a Scrum Master, Product Owner and Developers collaborate to create value.
  • Understand the importance of self-management and cross-functionality.
  • Be prepared to take the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment offered by Scrum.org.

Who should take this course?

Whether your a beginner with no experience of Scrum who wants to learn the framework, or an experienced practitioner looking to refine their understanding, the course content is purposefully wide-range and deep in context to make it relevant to you. Specifically, it’s for anyone on a Scrum Team or in a management position who wants to understand how Scrum can be used to accelerate valuable product delivery. If you’re interested in becoming a Scrum Master, then this course is perfect for you. Finally, anyone looking to pass the Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) assessment offered by Scrum.org should strongly consider using Scrum 101 as a learning resource.
