Professional Scrum Product Backlog Management Skills™, 16/5/24-17/5/24

£600.00

Course Description

Professional Scrum Product Backlog Management Skills is an interactive course designed to help Scrum practitioners improve their ability to manage all aspects of the Product Backlog and stakeholder communication. With strong Product Backlog Management skills, a Product Owner is better able to make their decisions transparent, aiding value creation and closer working within the Scrum Team.

You will already know that a Product Owner owns the Product Backlog – the clue is in their name. However, many organisations fail to realise just how hard it is to be a Product Owner, because it’s not just about telling a group of Developers what to work on next. Effective stakeholder engagement? Defining and maintaining a transparent Product Backlog? Refining it? The Product Owner is accountable for it all.

Who should attend?

This course is ideal for:

Anyone working in a product-centric environment such as Scrum Masters (to be an effective coach), Product Owners, Product Managers and Business Analysts. Simply, it’s for anyone who wants to gain practical ways to manage stakeholders and the Product Backlog.

What is the class?

In this two half-day skills-building course, participants will learn how to best manage a Product Backlog that clearly expresses your future vision of your product and brings transparency to what is most valuable for the Scrum Team to work on. You’ll learn which Product Backlog Item attributes you should capture and methods you can use to order the Product Backlog.

The areas of focus are:

  • Apply practical techniques to create, refine, and order your Product Backlog
  • Identify and effectively communicate with stakeholders
  • Capture your stakeholder’s needs on a Product Backlog
  • Find better ways to make your Product Backlog more transparent
  • Use empiricism as a competitive advantage

We want you to leave the class with a toolbox of techniques to help you improve Product Ownership. Please note that the class is based on activities, and will not cover new theory. We expect you to have a working knowledge of how Scrum works in order to get benefit from the PSPBMS class.

Additional Information

By signing up for this class, you are eligible for some benefits offered by Scrum.org. These include:

  • One free attempt at the PSPBMS assessment
  • A second free attempt (if you try, and fail to meet the 85% passing mark within 14 days of the class finishing). If you pass on the first attempt, a second attempt will not be given
  • 7 PDUs that can be used to evidence your continued learning requirement for the Project Management Institute (PMI)
  • Upon successful completion of the PSPBMS assessment, lifetime certification for PSPBMS – it will never expire.
